Lebanese superstar Elissa devastates fans by quitting music

Elissa broke hearts via twitter by announcing her plans to quit “similar to mafias” music industry. The Lebanese singing sensation is one of the biggest and brightest stars in the Arab world’s music scene, with an almost 30 year career in the industry.

I am preparing this new album with a lot of love and passion. The reason is that it will be the last one in my career. I am announcing this with a heavy heart but with a lot of conviction because I can’t work in a field that is similar to mafias. I can’t be productive anymore

She has also been the highest-selling female Middle Eastern artist since 2005. And, her fans are deeply rattled by the news

The star tweeted to announce her next (and apparently final album) and continued that she made the announcement to quit with a “heavy heart”, but “a lot of conviction.” Fans are eagerly awaiting the new album.

After going off the radar for a while, Elissa released a music video last year depicting her struggle with breast cancer.
