A new A380 livery has been rolled out by Emirates for UAE National Day. The design on the plane, which is set to take off Friday, “brings together the diverse, multicultural communities of the UAE.”
It reflects people from different backgrounds and cultures, showcasing the various communities that reside here in the UAE. Everyone is shown to be holding hands in solidarity on both sides on the plane.
UAE residents were invited to apply for a seat on the flight as the airline wanted to host as many nationalities as possible. The final count of nationalities onboard will be revealed on Friday.
The EK2019 flight can be seen off the coast of Umm Al Quwain at 11:45 am, followed by a sighting in Ras Al Khaimah at 11:55 am and Fujairah at 12:05 pm. After this, the flight will move through Al Ain, Abu Dhabi, Sharjah and then Ajman. Finally, the flight will fly along the Dubai coastline before landing back at the Dubai International Airport.
In addition to mark the country’s National Day, Emirates also wants the flight to be more environment friendly. “We are exploring different opportunities to offset the emissions of this flight and planning is already under way on an initiative which will be announced soon,” said an Emirates spokesperson.
After taking its first flight this Friday, the EK2019 will enter regular service alongside other Emirates A380s in the next year.
