Every so often, we all need one of those truly heartwarming stories to keep us going. Yes, there’s a whole lot of rubbish going on in the world and sometimes it can be a struggle to keep powering through. But, powering through is exactly what we should do.
Need proof? Meet Mike Yung.
In 2016, Mike Yung, a self-proclaimed “50 something,” year old, who spent a lot of his time (a whole 37 years) in New York’s subway stations singing his heart out. With an incredibly soulful voice and a pair of powerful lungs, Yung became a hit across the city.
However, it wasn’t until someone recorded his performance that the world started to take notice. The video was viewed over 2 million times in one week.

A year later, Mike stood in front of the America’s Got Talent panel of judges and reprised The Righteous Brothers’ “Unchained Melody,” the song that put him on the map.
The rendition earned him a standing ovation
Mike qualified all the up to the quarterfinals where he performed “Thinking Out Loud” by Ed Sheeran. But he was eliminated in the semifinals.
Fast forward a bit and Yung has teamed up with Dutch DJ Martin Garrix with a this-will-bring-you-to-tears-every-time track that’s about 50% vocal and 50% heart.
