Saudi Arabia is set to have the world's fastest rollercoaster

The Falcon Flight ride, the world’s fastest, tallest and longest rollercoaster, is coming to Saudi Arabia’s first ever theme park.

Spread across a 32-hectare site at Qiddiya, which is 40 km west of Riyadh, Six Flags Qiddiya will consist of six themed lands and include 28 major attractions. As reported by Arab News, the park will be operated by Six Flags, the world’s largest amusement park company, currently running 26 entertainment centres across North America.

Apart from the ‘Falcon Flight’ ride, the ‘Sea Stallion’ will propel riders over rivers, behind waterfalls and trees along a custom-made course as they control the speed of the horse. In addition, ‘Sirocco Tower’ will become the world’s tallest drop-tower ride. These attractions have all derived inspiration from the Arabian heritage.

“There are 90 to 120 days when the weather is uncomfortable,” Six Flags International President David McKillips said on Sunday. “A strategy has been developed to operate 365 days a year, providing shade and using technologies like water misters to make the weather bearable.”

The park, which hopes to attract around 15,000 visitors per day, is expected to open in 2023.
