Melissa McCarthy might have just spilled the tea on playing Ursula in the live-action "The Little Mermaid"

Unless you’re living … well… under the sea, you know that there’s another Disney live-action in the works. The Little Mermaid has conjured up quite a lot of feelings with regards to the casting choices. In June, the role of Ariel went to Halle Bailey and now the name on everyone’s lips is Ursula.

First to throw her name into the ring for the role was Lizzo. The larger than life musician with a pair of pipes isn’t going down without a fight, as she posted a video of her singing Ursula’s iconic “Poor Unfortunate Souls.”

However, there seems to be an air surrounding actress Melissa McCarthy, who many believe is favourited to play the sea witch. In true Disney fashion, we’ve not heard anything about who they are leaning towards but, McCarthy may have just dropped a massive hint. Whilst on the Jimmy Kimmel show, McCarthy spoke about the role, saying:

“It seems like it’d be an awfully fun thing to do,” McCarthy joked. “I’d love if Disney gave me a little ringy-dingy.”

She then said “We’ll see” and turned to the audience and gave a huge exaggerated wink. Jimmy then said “If that were to happen, that would be a fun thing, huh?” to which she repeated “If, IF!”
