Woman's lip-filler disaster left her looking like 'something out of horror show'

When undergoing any surgery, it’s important to seek out a qualified and highly-rated professional. Michaela Hide was left looking like “something out of a horror show” after paying £220 for lip-fillers. Hoping for the perfect pout, Hide visited the beautician who injected her lips with a calcium-based product rather than the usual hyaluronic acid based filler. This resulted in the product crystallising in her lips, leaving her with hard lumps.

She told the Sun : “I looked like something out of a horror show.

“I looked horrific. When my boyfriend at the time came home, he went berserk, screaming ‘what have you done?'”

The beautician told her that everything was fine and to ice her lips at home. Hide attempted to reduce what she assumed was swelling, with antihistamines, however, this failed too. After researching, she soon discovered that the beautician had injected her with Radiesse, a product uses in solid places such as chin, jaw, cheek and nose sculpting, and not the lips.

Hide returned to have her lips “evened out” by the beautician, and paid an additional £120 pounds for the service which, ultimately, made it worse. After repeatedly contacting the beautician again, she reportedly blocked her and moved house.

She said: “That’s when I really began to panic. I thought I was going to be stuck like this forever.”

Hide eventually paid an extra £1,020 for two operations with reconstructive surgeon Dr Mark Gorman who said he’d never seen a case like it and had to cut the lumps out, one by one.

She has since made a full recovery.
