After having taken over the international music scene, BTS wants to dive into the art world across five international cities that include Paris, Berlin, Seoul, New York and Buenos Aires.

The band revealed the project titled ‘Connect, BTS’, during a press conference yesterday, joining in live from Seoul. Connect, BTS has already enlisted some of the most notable artists. Sir Antony Gormley, the British sculptor, is set to create a giant aluminium coil in New York for next month, while another installation by Tomas Saraceno will see a solar-powered project in which a human floats above the Salinas Grandes in a large balloon.

Connect, BTS, has been funded partly by the Korean band, and hopes for a “collective experience that might be only the beginning of new communication between art, music and people.”

Each artwork showcased under this umbrella will be free for public viewing since BTS want to send a “positive message for the world”, a philosophy that helped the band shortlist the artists they wanted to work with.

“We’re very excited and really happy to be part of this project,” said band member Kim Namjoon. “We have always been inspired by the ability of music to communicate across borders and barriers which is not very different from what art does,” added bandmate Suga.

BTS are currently preparing to embark on their next world tour that commences in April.
