UAE’s 48th National Day gets its own original score

We are just weeks away from celebrating the country’s 48th National Day and like always, there’s something special in store for the festivities this year. More than 80 musicians from around the world, some of which are members of London’s Royal Philharmonic Orchestra have come together to produce an original score titled, ‘Legacy of Our Ancestors’ to honor December 2.

Emirati elements and instruments unique to the UAE will blend with the sound of international musicians to provide a first of its kind soundtrack. “Music is a key component of any theatrical production and the original score for ‘Legacy of Our Ancestors’ will elevate the overall impact and beauty of the production,” said Saeed Al Suwaidi, a representative of the organising committee of the Official 48th UAE National Day Celebration, ‘Legacy of Our Ancestors’. “The UAE is a harmonious and tolerant home to hundreds of nationalities and cultures, which has influenced the composition of the original score. The soundtrack will be rooted in the Emirates, with contributions by some of the world’s leading composers and musicians.” This works directly in line with this year being termed as the ‘Year of Tolerance’.

The production has been created by eight international composers, and will be performed on December 2 at the 10,000 square metre stage at the Zayed Sports City Stadium, Abu Dhabi. This stage design is shaping up to be one of the most complex and intricate stage sets ever built for the National day. Tickets to the event start at AED 60; more information about the event can be found on uaenationalday.ae.
