No, this is not a drill. The academy award winning actor is heading back to his alma mater as a professor at the University of Texas.
McConaughey, who has been acting for the last two decades and has given audiences spectacular performances in True Detective, A Time To Kill, and Interstellar has previously also been a guest instructor at the university.
There’s very little that this versatile actor cannot do. When McConaughey first emerged on the scene, he fit the boy next door bill perfectly; but the actor later went on to purse more serious roles to prove his extended skill set in Hollywood with notable performances like the one in Dallas Buyers Club, a movie that won him several awards and critical acclaim.
As reported by Entertainment Weekly, McConaughey will become a member of staff at the university’s Moody College of Communication in the Department of Radio-Television-Film. With a curriculum designed by himself, one which focuses on the upcoming film The Gentlemen, McConaughey is extremely excited about returning to class.
“It’s the class I wish I would have had when I was in film school. Working in the classroom with these students gives me a chance to prepare them. Making movies, turning words on paper into film, is both a science and art — no matter the time or generation. The elements of truth and genuine joy for the process are timeless. That will always be our classroom focus,” the actor said.
Now, if we only had a professor as good looking at McConaughey himself, we would have all excelled at school!
