يتواجد على متجر قوقل بلاي آلاف تطبيقات الحماية من الفيروسات، ومع أن الكثير منها يحمل إعلانات مزعجة أو تثقل ذاكرة الجهاز، تأتي دراسة علمية لتؤكد اليوم أن معظمها لا يعمل بشكل صحيح وبعضها يصنف كفيروسات!.
أجرت شركة AV-Comparatives دراسة على 250 تطبيق لمكافحة الفيروسات من قوقل بلاي وتمكّن 80 منها فقط ( أقل من الثلث ) من تجاوز معايير الاختبار الأساسية للشركة.
ومن المعايير الأساسية للاختبار أن يتمكن التطبيق من اكتشاف أكثر من 30% من البرمجيات الخبيثة العام الماضي ولم تعطي أي إنذار كاذب وخاطئ. والمصيبة أن بعض تلك التطبيقات تشير لنفسها أثناء المسح على أنها فيروسات أو برمجيات خبيثة.
وعند التمعن في آلية عمل تلك التطبيقات، تبين أن بعضها لا يقوم بمسح الملفات والبحث فيها عن برمجيات خبيثة، إنما فقط تستخدم قوائم بيضاء وسوداء وتقارن معها، وبعضها يمكن أن تمر عليه برمجيات خبيثة تتنكر تحت اسم برامج معروفة وشهيرة مثل فيس بوك وانستغرام.
أما التطبيقات التي تعمل بكفاءة فهي التي تقدمها الشركات العريقة في مجال الأمن والحماية مثل كاسبرسكي و مكافي و AVG، وهنا تظهر التوصية التي تقول بأنه إن كنت بحاجة لتطبيق للحماية من الفيروسات، الأجدر تنزيل واحد من شركة متخصصة بالأمن والحماية، وليست تلك التي يبرمجها الهواة والمبرمجين أو الشركات الأمنية حديثة العهد.
