Elton John launches weekly YouTube series for coronavirus relief

A weekly archival concert footage series called Elton John: Classic Concert Series is coming to YouTube very soon.

The series, which launches July 3, will begin with “Live at Playhouse Theatre, Edinburgh,” a concert that took place on 17 September 1976. The special will showcase his early hits such as “Skyline Pigeon,” “Benny and the Jets” and “Rocket Man.”

Following this, every Saturday a new episode is set to air which will feature a two-hour concert every week for six weeks. Elton John aims to raise funds for the Elton John AIDS Foundation in support of coronavirus relief efforts.

“My Foundation’s COVID-19 Emergency Fund helps frontline partners prepare for and respond to the pandemic and its effects on HIV prevention and care for the most marginalized communities. We cannot jeopardize HIV testing and care during this time or else the results could be disastrous for the 37.5 million people living with HIV. So, I’m really happy to connect this YouTube Concert series to benefit our Foundation’s urgent COVID response,” he said.
