Rihanna has joined the list of A-listers who are helping combat the coronavirus outbreak through donations.
The Clara Lionel Foundation is a non-profit organization founded by Rihanna, that focuses on providing funding for education and emergency preparedness around the world. This foundation has now donated $5 million to a range of organizations around the world, particularly in the U.S, Africa and the Caribbean. Some of these include, ‘Feeding America’, ‘Direct Relief’, and ‘Partners in Health’.
“Never has it been more important or urgent to protect and prepare marginalized and underserved communities — those who will be hit hardest by this pandemic,” said the organization. “CLF believes that one of the most powerful weapons we have against COVID-19 is preparedness,” they added. “Protecting our frontline health workers and marginalized communities around the world requires getting ahead of it fast, and the time to act is now.”
The funds donated will be dedicated to serving the at-risk communities and the elderly in the U.S, and provide resources for testing and care in Haiti and Malawi.
