Gigi Hadid could be a juror for Harvey Weinstein's rape case

After decades of injustice, Harvey Weinstein’s criminal trial on charges of sexual assault finally began on 6 January. Since then, there have been hundreds of potential jury members assigned to the case, one of which is supermodel Gigi Hadid. In order to avoid jeopardising the case, reporters were initially not granted permission to reveal Hadid’s identity but have been given the green light since.

As part of the process of finding suitable jurors, all candidates must be questioned as to whether they know the defendant, defence attorneys, witnesses or anyone who may provide accounts. Hadid informed Judge James Burke that she had met Weinstein and Salma Hayek (who is expected to testify against Weinstein on sexual harassment charges.)

According to Buzzfeed, “I have met Salma Hayek and [inaudible],” Hadid informed the court.

“Is there anything about having met them that makes you unable to be an impartial juror?” Burke asked Hadid.

“I think I’m still able to keep an open mind on the facts,” she responded.

Other famous faces expected to be involved in the case are Charlize Theron and Rosie Perez.
