The Obamas are giving us a glimpse into their lives. After a very successful partnership with Netflix for the Oscar winner, American Factory, our favorite family is returning on the streaming platform for a documentary about Michelle’s most recent book tour.
Becoming, which is also the title of Michelle’s memoir that was published in 2018, will present an up-close look into the former First Lady’s life, taking us behind the scenes of her 34-city tour. The movie will focus on highlighting the power of community and the power of sharing stories when people come together.
The documentary, which is set of a May 6 release, recently shared its first look along with a note from Michelle Obama, in which she talks about how she wants viewers to feel “joy and a bit of respite” as the world joins forces to fight the COVID-19 pandemic.
The note reads, “Even as we can no longer safely gather or feed off the energy of groups, even as many of us are living with grief, loneliness, and fear, we need to stay open and able to put ourselves in other people’s shoes. Empathy is our lifeline here.”
