Magic truly does happen on live TV. Whilst doing a skit for SNL, Harry Styles played an employee named Dylan who has a sit-down with his bosses about mixing up the company’s corporate Instagram account with his personal account. During the skit he is pulled up on some questionable comments about the likes of Nick Jonas and even mentions sliding into the DMs of one of the hottest singers out there.

However, if you struggle to figure out who he is talking about, it’s probably because he’s pronounced the name completely wrong. Styles calls Shawn Mendes “Shawn Men-deez” and although the sketch itself is hilarious, it’s this little faux pas that has had tongues wagging – including Mr. Mendes’.

Responding to a fan on Twitter who asked if Shawn had heard the new pronunciation, Shawn said: “Yeah that’s officially how it’s pronounced now!”

It seems like Styles’ influence surpasses music and fashion – he’s now even convincing people to change their names!
