It takes a certain amount of class, edge and social awareness to be dubbed “cool enough for Queen.” So, it makes sense that, in this case, the title was not awarded.
President Trump was made to take down a campaign video that featured Queen’s iconic track “We Will Rock You.” The band’s publisher was not letting him off lightly and immediately began work to have the video removed after it was published on 9 October.
The band had “already entered into a process to call for non use of Queen song copyrights by the Trump campaign. This is ongoing,” the representative said just a few hours after it was published. Just under a week later, the video had been removed.
“This media has been disabled in response to a report by copyright owner,” Trump’s (now unwatchable) tweet currently says.
In another attempt to be relatable, Trump’s administration also used Nickelback’s track “Photograph” in another campaign video. Shockingly, that campaign is also no longer with us and after playing Prince’s “Purple Rain” during a rally, The Prince Estate stated, “The Prince Estate will never give permission to President Trump to use Prince’s songs.”
