Prince Harry and Ed Sheeran have one thing in common: their red hair. Which is perhaps why the “Shape of You” singer got the wrong end of the stick when the Duke of Sussex invited him round to his place for a chat.
In a video posted by SussexRoyal — the official Instagram account for Meghan Markle and Prince Harry — on Thursday, Sheeran is shown getting a beard trim ahead of going to see the prince.
Sheeran pops round to Harry’s and the pair get chatting, but it soon becomes clear that Sheeran hasn’t quite understood why he’s there.
“This is something i’m quite passionate about,” says Sheeran.
“This, for me, is a subject and conversation that’s just not talked about enough. People all over the world are really suffering,” replies Harry.
“People just don’t understand what it’s like for people like us,” says Sheeran. He’s met with a bewildered expression from the prince.
“You know, jokes, snide comments, I just feel like it’s time we stood up and said, ‘We are not gonna take this anymore. We are ginger and we’re gonna fight,'” says Sheeran.
“Um, ok. Slightly awkward, this might be a miscommunication but this is about World Mental Health Day,” replies Harry.
Sheeran replies saying he definitely knew that and proceeds to delete the words “gingers unite” from a PowerPoint presentation.
Jokes aside, Prince Harry ends the video with a sincere message about World Mental Health Day.
“Look out for anybody that might be suffering in silence,” he said.
