Shawn Mendes is not just another pretty boy that we’ve been gushing over since his electric performance with Camila Cabello a few days ago.

The 21-year old singer and songwriter is doing his part to give back to the community by launching his very own charitable foundation, ‘ The Shawn Mendes foundation’.

Currently enjoying the top most position on music charts all across the world, Mendes has made a name for himself rapidly in the pop world. Now, he wants to use his voice in helping his fans and other young people by focusing on ‘youth-related causes’. These include anything from mental health issues, human rights, sustainability and even education.

The Grammy-nominated singer has been extremely vocal about suffering from anxiety, penning down his experience of living with the condition in his song, ‘In My Blood’. He has also previously worked closely with dosomething.org, an initiative that focuses on teen mental health, and donated a substantial amount of money to the Mexico Earthquake Relief Fund, among many others.

The Shawn Mendes Foundation has already partnered with the SickKids paediatric hospital in Canada, and REVERB, a non-profit that works with artists to help them minimalize their environmental footprints on tours.

“Their (fans) energy and dedication to improving the world is so incredible, and I am hoping we can use this as a way to lift each other up, learn together and inspire more people to get involved in giving back,” he said in a statement to TIME magazine.
