Unless you’re of an age, partial to country music or perpetually out-of-the-loop, you know who Missy Elliott is. In 2002, one of the most iconic female rappers in the game ever (yeah, Nicki, come get some) released a song that would go down in history, entitled ‘Work It.’
Along with an infectious beat and some majorly witty lyrics, the song’s music video quickly became the one of the noughties most memorable. I mean, who can forget seeing Missy’s head superimposed on a child’s body?
But, it wasn’t actually Missy who everyone had their eye on in the video – it was actually 9-year-old Alyson Stoner. Kid got moves.
Between 2002 and now, Alyson has been in a number of films, including playing Channing Tatum’s sister in Step Up. She has also become a Youtube sensation. At last night’s Video Music Awards, Missy Elliott performed a medley of her greatest hits, including, you guessed it, ‘Work It,‘ and with a special nod to the way things were, she brought Alyson back to perform her routine.
