Justin Bieber’s choreographer and world-famous dancer Parris Goebel has been appointed as the head curator of the entertainment and cultural program for the New Zealand Pavilion. This pavilion will come to life at next year’s Expo 2020.
Parri$, which is Goebel’s stage name, has previously worked with renowned world artists such as Rihanna, Janet Jackson, Jennifer Lopez and Nicki Minaj to name a few. If you want to see some of her most popular work, Parri$ was responsible for the iconic ‘Sorry’ video by Justin Bieber, a video that has over two billion views on Youtube.
New-Zealand born, Goebel’s dance crew titled, ‘The Royal Family’ has bagged the World Hip Hop Dance Championship three times.
“I’ve had a sneak preview of Parris’ plans and it is going to be spectacular and something New Zealanders will be very proud to have representing them,” Jacinda Ardern, Prime Minister and Minister for Arts, Culture and Heritage in Auckland said. “Importantly it will also show the special role arts and culture play not only in our national identity but in boosting our economy and helping strengthen international relationships,” she added.
“I am so excited to be curating the entertainment for Expo 2020 Dubai. This is something I am extremely passionate about and this is a huge honour for me. We will showcase New Zealand’s finest talent from music, dance, drama, street art and show the world what makes us special. Culture and heart will be at the forefront of our programme and all the other things us kiwis take pride in,” Parri$ said upon being selected.
Expo 2020, which will run from October 2020 to April 2021 is among the, if not the most anticipated event around the world slated to take place in the UAE.
