Ed Sheeran is obsessed with Heinz ketchup, and by the looks of it, the people at Heinz are reciprocating the love (who wouldn’t if you have someone like Ed Sheeran on your side?!)
Apart from having a tattoo of the Heinz ketchup bottle, the singer has previously collaborated with the condiment company for and ad titled ‘Tomato Edchup” earlier this year, which he wrote and starred in. But the obsession doesn’t end there.
In an auction that took place in London a few days ago, three limited-edition bottles of Heinz tomato ketchup were sold for a total amount ringing up to £3650 ( 16,290 AED).
If you’re thinking that the world, more particularly the people who bought the bottles at £1050 pounds, 1100 pounds and 1500 pounds respectively, have lost the plot, here’s why they did what they did.
These exclusive bottles are designed with a copy of Ed Sheeran’s own Heinz inking on them. Apart from these 3 bottles that were put up for an auction, only 150 more will be available worldwide in honor of Heinz’s 150th birthday. All the money raised will be donated to East Anglia’s Children’s Hospices and Rise Against Hunger, the former being nominated by Ed Sheeran and the latter by Heinz.
Nigel Dickie, the director of corporate affairs at Heinz said, “What’s special about them is that they have his tattoos on the label,” he said. “They’re part of the label, so it’s his sleeve on our sleeve.”
While some bottles will be the prizes in a free global draw, the remaining bottles will be given to Sheeran and Heinz fans and museums.
