If there’s one thing we know about Eminem, it’s that he’s not afraid to speak his mind. And his latest track is no exception. After a 4 year bout of radio silence, Eminem burst back onto the music scene with the 2017 album Revival. However, critics weren’t too impressed and it didn’t exactly take off.
His latest rap track Homicide, alongside rapper Logic, is an incredibly candid and aptly named collab, considering that it is really going in for the kill.
The victim? Today’s rap game.
The lyrics are a severe distaste for the way today’s rappers sound, write and rap, with Logic’s first verse saying:
“I’m foamin’ out the mouth, ain’t nobody takin’ me out/Every single rapper in the industry, yeah, they know what I’m about/And I dare you to test me/‘Cause not a single one of you (expletives) impress me/And maybe that’s a little bit of an exaggeration/But I’m full of innovation/And I’m tired of all of this high school ‘he’s cool, he’s not’ rap (expletive)/Can a single one of you (expletives) even rap? (Expletive).”
But, this is not the first time Eminem has called out modern rappers.
His 2018 track The Ringer even included the names of certain rappers who he obviously isn’t a massive fan of.
“So finger-bang, chicken wang, MGK, Igg’ Azae’/Lil Pump, Lil Xan imitate Lil Wayne/I should aim at everybody in the game, pick a name/I’m fed up with bein’ humble/And rumor is I’m hungry, I’m sure you heard bumblings/I heard you wanna rumble like an empty stomach/I heard your mumblin’ but it’s jumbled in mumbo-jumbo/The era that I’m from will pummel you, that’s what it’s comin’ to/What the (expletive) you’re gonna do when you run into it?”
Justin Bieber also chimed in saying that Eminem just doesn’t get today’s rap industry. The 25-year-old posted to his Instagram stories saying, “I just like Em’s flow but don’t like that he’s dissing new rappers, I like the new generation of rap he just doesn’t understand it.” Which, is fair enough, perhaps?
He then followed up by posting an image that suggested that Chris Brown is the combination of Michael Jackson and Tupac Shakur.
