That’s one way of celebrating 4th July.
A new replica of the New York sculptor has appeared on the Jeddah Corniche. Photos and videos have been circulating on social media of the American symbol of freedom, followed by a statement by the Jeddah Municipality through Arabic media.
The statue, which is a part of Jeddah Season, is intended to be a temporary activation to celebrate July 4, America’s Independence day, with the American visitors. “The statue of Liberty, currently located on Al Hamra Corniche, is part of a temporary event and will be removed as soon as it ends,” read one municipality statement. Jeddah Season has plenty in store for its visitors including a series of events and entertainment gigs. The closing night of this festival will host Nicki Minaj, Steve Aoki and Liam Payne at the Jeddah World Fest on July 18.
Other iconic signs have been added to the vicinity of the statue as well, most notably the ‘Hollywood’ sign, ‘Welcome to Vegas’ sign and an Elvis Presley statue among others.
The original Statue of Liberty, first dedicated on 28 October, 1989 has been a hallmark for America. The lady with the torch symbolizes freedom for the country. It is also one of the most visited tourist spots in the world, welcoming up to 3.5 people to Liberty Island every year.
