Desperate times call for desperate measures. LVHM, the French luxury group, will now use its perfume production lines to make hand sanitiser in a bid to protect people from Covid-19. Three of the company’s perfume and cosmetics sites in France will now be dedicate all its resources to make sanitizer that will be distributed to French hospitals.
These three factories are where Christian Dior, Guerlain and Givenchy scents and makeup and generally manufactured; this week, twelve tons of sanitizer will be produced instead.
“These gels will be delivered free of charge to the health authorities,” LVMH announced on Sunday. “LVMH will continue to honour this commitment for as long as necessary, in connection with the French health authorities,” the company added.
As reported by Arab News, sanitizer supplies in Paris hospitals are “strained”, and other companies are stepping up as well to help out in whatever way they can by donating supplies.
Other governments too across the world are turning to manufacturers to urge them to supply products that are needed currently during the outbreak.
France, which has reported 120 deaths from coronavirus has shut off its restaurants, cafes and public spaces to help curb the virus.
