Valentine’s Day is the ultimate test for couples. Although a fair few of us claim to boycott the holiday, you have to admit, there’s still a teeny tiny part of us way deep down that hopes our significant other has something up their sleeve.

However, if you’ve arrived at the day and it turns out that he or she had absolutely nothing in-hand or planned, then you’ve either packed their bags (rightfully so, and not at all dramatic) or you’re keeping your feelings hidden until their birthday.

But, if you’re on the flip side of the equation and you’re looking for a way to rectify your Earth-shattering faux pas, then this florist has your back. New Zealand’s Pine & Ginger Floral Co is offering a service in which customers can buy a bouquet of flowers post-Valentine’s Day, complete with a letter of apology taking full responsibility for the gift’s “lateness.”

The letter reads: “We sincerely apologise that you didn’t receive these flowers yesterday on Valentine’s day. Our delivery man was bitten by a dog and couldn’t fulfil your partner’s order, which we can confirm they made months ago in preparation for this very special day.

“This was definitely not at all a last minute order. They really love you, we promise. This is our bad.”

It finishes: “We hope you’ll direct your anger and disappointment towards us, our delivery guy and most importantly the dog.

“Don’t blame your partner, it’s not their fault. They told us they love you very much.

“Again, just to clarify, the late delivery isn’t your partner’s fault.

“We hope you enjoy the flowers – we made sure they’re as beautiful as you.”

Now that’s the path to redemption.
