Rapper Nicki Minaj’s brother has been sentenced to 25-years to life imprisonment. Jelani Maraj was convicted of predatory sexual assault and child endangerment in November 2017. He has since been found guilty for sexually assaulting an 11-year-old girl, his step-daughter at his home in Long Island.

Prosecutors determined that DNA evidence from the girl’s pyjama pants was linked to Maraj. The victim’s brother also testified against Maraj, claiming he witnessed one instance of assault. The girl testified at the trial in 2017 that Maraj raped her up to four times per week and sometimes twice a day.

According to Page Six, during the sentencing, Maraj’s lawyer read a 2016 letter his sister, Nicki Minaj wrote in support of her brother, in which she described him as the “most patient, gentle, genuine, giving selfless man I know.”
