Nancy Ajram's husband has been charged with murder

After ultimately killing a robber that entered his home in the Keserwan district of Beirut, Fadi El Hachem, has been charged with murder. However, if the defence is able to prove that the act was that of self-defence, the charges could be dropped.

According to Arab News, El Hachem’s lawyer said “Al-Hachem’s act of legitimate defence is described in accordance with what is stipulated in the Lebanese Penal Code,” he added. “I am confident that the decision issued will drop charges on Al-Hashem.”The husband of superstar Nancy Ajram was rushed to hospital yesterday morning after collapsing due to the emotional strain of the ordeal.

The robber, 30-year-old Mohamed Hassan al-Mousa, who was also armed, snuck into the house while the couple and their three daughters were sleeping. CCTV footage taken inside the house shows El Hachem attempting to defend himself with a chair, the robber can be heard telling El Hachem not to “force” him to hurt him.

The footage has since been made public and El Hachem’s voice can be heard recalling the event. During the video he says, “He asked me for money, I gave him some from my jacket. He then asked me where the jewelry was and ordered me to call my wife over. This is when security men who Nancy had called came in and started looking for him. He also threatened them with the gun and they backed away.”

However, it was not until the robber began making his way towards the children’s rooms that El Hachem retaliated. “I completely lost it and rushed towards him kamikaze [sic], I wanted to tear him into pieces even if he shot me. I approached him and we came face to face. He pulled his weapon up towards me and I just shot him,” he explained.
